Why “Allium”?

Allium is a genus of flowering plants that include onions, garlic, scallions, leeks, and chives. While they have beautiful, spherical flowers with slender stalks, the bulbs beneath the ground are what alliums are most known for.

Alliums represent our students’ investigations and analysis that require digging beneath the surface. Furthermore, students connect deeply with each other and our broader community through storytelling, conflict resolution, and service. We believe social-emotional learning is an essential work of both the mind and the heart that directly contributes to personal and communal thriving.
